Sri Kashi Vishwanath temple is one of the oldest and most sacred of temples in Uttarkashi, situated on bank of river Bhagirathi. The present structure, which is popularly known as the Golden Temple because of the gold used in the plating of its spires and domes, is believed to have been built during the 18th century by Ahalya Bai of the Holkar dynasty.   The columns, beams, and walls are decorated with finely carved ornamentation

The Kashi Vishwanath Temple is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located in Vishwanath Gali of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh in India. The temple stands on the western bank of the holy river Ganga, and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the holiest of Shiva temples.

Lord Shiva's Shivling is established in Shri Kashi Vishwanath temple, which is 56 centimeters tall and the direction of Shivling is towards south direction. In the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, Goddess Parvati and Ganesh are also here. In the outer room of the temple is Nandini. The idol of sakshi Gopal and Rishi Markandeya are seen represented here as in meditation.
