In the fast paced world that we live in today, having the time to do absolutely nothing and just be is a true luxury. For people who are in search of this rare luxury, Peora is the perfect destination.

Here, you can celebrate the bare essentials – an extraordinarily stunning landscape, an abundance of greenery and spectacular, ethereal views of the Himalayas.

Situated in the heart of Uttarakhand, Peora is a quaint village at an elevation of 5,500 feet, located 57 km. from Nainital and approximately 20 km. from Almora and Mukteshwar.

With a tiny population of just over 500 residents, Peora is reminiscent of the sleepy little villages so well described in Ruskin Bond’s books. The town is truly an oasis of calm.

With panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks, you feel like you have discovered nature’s little secret. The sound of bubbling water flowing through the streams within the forests, along with the soft chirping of the birds nearby are nature’s symphony to the ears.

Peora is home to acres of pine forests, with over 200 species of birds and 150 species of insects. Leopards, wild boars, deer, nilgai, jackals and foxes inhabit the region’s lush wildlife.

As you stroll or drive through the windy, hilly roads of Peora, you will come across many a friendly face, smiling as you pass by them. The local residents are peaceful and welcoming people, who are often seen socialising at local shops.

With access to highly fertile land in the area, these locals mainly practice organic farming and cultivate crops of pulses, vegetables, fruits and grains.
