The Maheshwari Kund is a charming lake skirted with rhododendrons and huge oak trees. As one walks uphill a couple of yards from the Munsyar Forest Rest House and takes the paved path to the right for nearly a 30-minute walk through a forest to reach a small meadow to the north of which lies this beautiful lake.
Legend goes that the lake was the home of Yaksha, a demi-God who fell in love with the Sarpanch's daughter.
In a fit of rage, the villagers dried the lake to teach the demon a lesson. Yaksha cursed the villagers and the village had suffered for a long time from drought.
When the villagers apologised to him, the curse got annulled and now stands a beautiful lake amid trees and plantations, to be appreciated by tourists who are left enchanted by its beauty.
